Architect

Ai3 Architects, located 20 miles west of Boston in Wayland, is a leading architectural design firm specializing in the programming, planning, and design of academic facilities. We provide a youthful, dynamic, collaborative work environment which encourages creative, sustainable, and thoughtful architecture, engaging each team member as a valuable contributor in the design and construction process. We are seeking an experienced leader in design, detailing, and team management who is highly motivated and interested in taking on significant responsibilities for both professional and financial gain. Our staff includes experienced and talented project architects, and we are seeking to expand our team with a Design Architect who has significant experience in carrying design from inception to final documentation.

This position has unlimited potential for the highly motivated and talented candidate. Our culture requires an energetic and thoughtful team player who can collaborate with other architects to lead a large-scale project through the design and documentation process. The successful candidate will be charged with managing staff and communicating with consultants, ultimately integrating into client communications as well.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Architecture
  • Minimum of 5-6 years professional architectural experience – NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, InDesign, Sketch-up, Photoshop, MS Office, and other 3-D, design software knowledge a plus
  • Experience on academic projects bid under 149 and 149a
  • Knowledge of sustainable building practices and/or LEED, WELL accreditation is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and verbal communication skills required.

Our culture requires an energetic and thoughtful team player who can collaborate with other team members in the planning, design, and documentation of complex academic buildings which promote teaching, learning, and sustainable philosophies through the design of the physical educational environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Architecture degree or a Master of Architecture degree
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in an architectural firm
  • Strong design and visualization skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communications skills
  • Expert Revit skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, collaborate on large teams, and work well under deadlines
  • Experience 3D or other visualization software such as Revit, Rhino, Sketchup, or Lumion a plus.

Construction Administrative Assistant / Designer

Ai3 Architects, located 20 miles west of Boston in Wayland, is a leading architectural design firm specializing in the programming, planning, and design of academic facilities. We provide a youthful, dynamic, collaborative work environment which encourages creative, sustainable, and thoughtful architecture, engaging each team member as a valuable contributor in the design and construction process.

We are currently seeking a Construction Administrative Assistant / Designer to join our team in the construction administrative support of complex academic buildings which promote teaching, learning, and sustainable philosophies through the design of the physical educational environment.

The candidate will report directly to the Firm’s Construction Administrative Partner at Ai3 Architects. The ideal candidate will perform construction administration activities for our design and construction projects.

Interested applicants must have the following qualifications to be considered for the position:

  • 4-5 years of professional experience in an architectural firm
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills with various levels of individuals including clients, consultants, and architects
  • 2-3 years of experience with Revit
  • Ability to read, understand, and work from construction documents and specifications
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks, collaborate on large teams, and work well under deadlines
  • Strong time management and conflict resolution abilities
  • Attention to detail, organization skills, strong written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.

The candidate will be expected to perform the following:

  • Review and process contractor shop drawings and compliance with architectural specifications
  • Utilizing Revit, prepare revised Contract Drawings to illustrate and document clarifications and changes
  • Respond to Contractor’s inquiries and questions and provide supplemental information as appropriate
  • Clarify and interpret the intent and scope of the Construction Documents
  • Establish and maintain a tracking system for all Project construction records (RFI’s, ASI’s, RFP/CO’s)
  • Attend weekly meetings as required during construction to observe progress and quality of the Work
  • Review the Contractor’s Project Schedule, Schedule of Values, and Submittal Schedule
  • Review periodic updates of all schedules with Owner and Contractor
  • Assist in the preparation of written reports of site visits and meetings
  • Provide assistance in the review of the Contractor’s requests for change orders
  • Assist in the preparation of Change Orders for the Owner’s approval and execution
  • Prepare, assemble, and distribute the official punchlist(s)
  • Review Contractor’s guarantees and warranties
  • Assist the Owner in checking as-built drawings regarding certifying progress payments
  • Review as-built documents for completeness at Substantial Completion and Final Completion
  • Review Contractor’s record drawings, O&M instructions, and all other close-out documentation
