In the center of the city of Central Falls, a new 61,000 square foot dual-language Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 school will allow students of diverse backgrounds and cultures to learn in a new school environment designed to limit a student’s transition before entering high school. Students who come to Central Falls are faced with many challenges including adapting to a new country and culture. The new Dual Language PK-8 school will become their new home as students learn and grow for the next ten years in the new school facility. The school will feature unique programs and support spaces such as a Community Health Clinic, “Newcomers” program, and dual-language push-in support spaces adjacent to each classroom. The school design responds to the urban fabric surrounding the site with a compact building footprint, a stepped three-story classroom core to maximize natural light and ventilation, and an outdoor flexible green space for school and community use.
